Craftsman sit down mower cuts off

I've been working on a 40 or 42 inch cut craftsman sit down mower, it had no spark. I changed the switch under the seat, then the ignition block, finally the coil. After the coil the engired fired up and runs fine. My new problem?

When I take my foot off the clutch pedal, to try and put it into a gear, OR, if I try to engage the blades, the engine wants to cut off. Also, the engine is supposed to cut off when I stand up off my seat but it does not.

Not sure if I put anything back in incorrectly, but there isn't much you can make a mistake with regarding the seat switch, or the coil. Unless the wires on the ignition block are crossed?

maybe the PTO is wired wrong ?

I had this happen before on like 2000 Poulan Pro 42in that was black in color. It would stay running when the parking brake is on then when I released clutch pedal to use the hydro it cuts off. I ended up replacing the key switch or solonoid to fix but cant remember which one though. Thinking it was more the key switch that was the issue.

It could well be the "key switch"..!

I'm not sure why even with the seat switch, under the seat, unplugged the mower still starts. How could it be linked to the problem? I have not done anything with a "PTO" that I know of as far as wiring.

I added a new seat switch, wire goes on one way.
I added a new coil, also goes on one way.
I add a new solenoid, more wires but seemed non-complicated.

Have you got the right seat switch as could be 2 different types of seat switch.
Open circuit or closed circuit switch.
Just a thought.

Looked identical, I went to local mower shop and had the parts person match it up.

Not sure about what you mean "ignition block", but your trouble seems related to the seat switch area. Put up your mower's and engine's model numbers, so we know what you have.

My brain fat fingered, the block is actually the solenoid which is what I Should have typed.
