Craftsman riding mower Model 917.276882 26HP Kohler engine. Just changed 1 broken pulley and drivebelt. Tractor will mow with belt engaged, but bogs down to a snail's pace when driving up a hill. Cannot tell if there is a belt or engine issue. Changed oil and cleaned air filter. Not sure if it is a PTO problem but pulley seemed fine.

See Ground Drive Assy: Did you replace idler pulleys with Craftsman OEM belt?

Whenever the drive belt is replace both v-idlers should be replaced. BTW drv belt is 1/2 x 84-1/2.

If engine rpm don't change a lot going up hill then it is the hydro or belt slippage.

Do you mean the hydro transaxle?

Anyone have an idea whether this is Spam or not? Just joined and wants you to click on an unknown site, seems like a big red flag. No I didn’t click on it.

Looks like that has a hydro-gear 3000 series, a fairly stout hydro. Do you have a link to the belt you purchased? Another test; from a stop, quickly push the forward drive pedal...does it accelerate quickly? Slowly? Did you have any issues before the belt/pulley failed? I'm guessing you bought a cheap chinese belt from amazon? Is that a Craftsman DGS6500 tractor?
