42", about 5-6 years old. Engine strong & smooth.
Was mowing in some tall (6-8") grass on edge of our field with deck 1 notch down from maximum height & creeping along slow enough so there was minimal strain on the engine.
Worked well until I ran over a plastic bag the turned out to be bigger and heavier than anticipated. That stopped the blades. (My Bad).
Immediately shut down the mower & pulled the bag out from the blades. Blades freely spin by hand, but not with engine running & PTO Switch activated. Belts appear to be on all pulleys.
Where or what do I need to check or do to fix this problem?

Sounds to me like a shear pin has done it's job.:thumbsup: One of the main drive pulleys probably has a pin or bolt designed to shear if excessive shock is put on the system. The Key, Pin, or Bolt is designed to shear instead of causing more damage. With all the pulleys and belts showing - turn the blades and watch for a pulley moving that is not turning a shaft and then look for a key pin or bolt hole that should be keeping the pulley turning with the shaft.
If you can find specific model and serial numbers of the mower you may be able to get design drawings from Sears.

I hope that it is just a shear-pin and not something more serious.
I will check for a pulley not turning with it's shaft; and look for the design drawing as suggested.

Belt maybe on at mower but check that its on pulley a motor, had it fall of my mothers LT2000 once.:biggrin:
