Craftsman do not publish repair manuals for their mowers, but they do publish parts books & operator manuals.
You will find what is available on the sears web page.

Your mower was made by MTD and in the back of the parts book should be the wiring diagram.

The engine manual should come from the engine maker.

If you want more help we will need a lot more information both about the mower and exactly what the problem is.

As Bert said,.. we need more info on your machine, ( engine in particular) and a bit more of what IS happening , is the starter actually spinning the motor over or just clicking or thunking, is the battery fully charged, has it been sitting for awhile, see example for info we need

meantime you can go through this trouble shooting list, and give us a better idea of what the problem is .

I’m thinking maybe the chock may not have been in the proper place. Will try to get to it .Thanks

NOTE:this was supposed to be added to the reply that took me 10 min to right and it wiped it out ,from other experience I have had on forums was that you can add or subtract to original post ,in this forum you lose the whole post .

Guess I have to redo ,as I was saying ,the problem started off trying to drain the gas tank,so I ended up taking cover of of tank and in order to do that had to disconnect a number of things which eventually had me unhooking battery.
At first the engine wouldn’t turn over so I fixed that prob now it turns over but doesn’t ignite.Bad gas ?,or no spark or no gas ,the only other thing is battery and wires were disconnected not sure if reassembled properly, need a diagram or pic of set up ,choke?,I sanded the magneto in process ,not sure if disrupted something.it was pretty rusty ,the part on top of engine. Thanks Alex

There is no point in polishing the magnets, they will go rusty overnight and the rust is passivating.
The only exception is if the rust is touching the coil.
The space between the coil & the magnets is critical, it should be around 0.010" which convienently is a std business card thickness..
You need compression, fuel & a spark at the right time for the engine to run.
So take out the plug, rest it on something metallic so it is grounded and crank the engine.
If there is a spark put a teaspoon down the plug hole and try again.

Tell us what happened & we will walk you through the rest.

Most riders are wired in a similar way & all engines work the same way.
The first thing to do is find out if the problem is in the mower or in the engine.

just to let everyone know the mower is running, the problem was the choke was not set properly ,when I had the panel that covers the gas tank removed I disconnected the choke lever from the panel. So the lever wasn't pushed all the way when I was trying to start. Sorry for dragging you guys into my headache which was caused by my own doing. My other beef about this machine is he muffer .The mower is so loud is there a way that I can maybe install a second muffler or something or is this a question for another thread .Thanks ,Alex

Quieting a mower is not cheap. Single cylinder will cost over $150 and a twin will be over $250.

I'm sure the muff they have on it doesn't work ,even with ear muffs its loud and I feel like I went through a war after cutting grass, but for 150.00 I don't know.

Hey Mon Ami get you a flange that will bolt up and configure a 3/4 inch pipe and a muffler.... There are a few videos on You Tube that will help you out on that situation ............
