Craftsman push mower engine issue

When I was 22 I had a cracked brass float with gas in it. I decided I could solder the crack if I could get the gasoline out of the float. Holding it up squeezing took too long. Aha! I'll take it out in the driveway and set it on fire. That bugger heated up and threw a 20 foot flame in the air for about 3-4 minutes. Holy crap, what did I do! Fortunately, I did not burn anything down! That was 67 years ago.

How about bugs and bug parts in the fuel tank? I’ve seen it where containers of gasoline had bugs go down the spout to their death. How about dirt dobbers?

I’m thinking it’s slow filling from tank
Tank is good, when I replaced the fuel line had good flow as I made a mess doing so. Thanks
