Can someone help me out?

In my search for a Garden Tractor I came across a Craftsman GT. It is powered by a Kohler 20 and has a 46 inch deck. The serial number suggests it was manufactured in 2000. The transmission is the manual 6 speed hi/low not unlike my ‘74 ss 16. The transmission appears noticeably larger in size than the one in my ‘74 Suburban.

Problems: 1) no manual. 2) Model number has been faded with age and is illegible. 3) charging system needs work or replacement. Stator is working fine so I suspect it is the rectifier/regulator. 4) the electric PTO blade clutch overheats - may need adjustment or replacement. I can mow an acre but once I shut it off it needs to cool before it will re-engage.

Questions: 1) Is it possible to get an accurate manual without the model number? 2) Is there a general rectifier/regulator for this unit or are they model specific? 3) What can you tell me about the larger transmission? 4) Is gap clearance for the electric clutch model specific?

This unit has been garage kept and in excellent condition for its 16 years so I would really like to get it back to factory spec running condition. I would really appreciate any information you may have that could assist me.

Thanks,
Hotshot

Take a photo of the manufactures tag with a digital camera, NOT YOUR PHONE.
Load the photo into your computer and invert the image ( called make negative in some softwear )
the number will jump out at you.

If that does not work then adjust the contrast to the highest level and that again will make it readable.
