Craftsman 316.773800 edger a few years old had what appeared to be carb issues, even tough I use only non ethanol gas. I ordered a new carb from Amazon, installed and it would only idle at very high speed and only run with choke on. I assumed it was a defective carb. Returned and received a new one.
Installed new carb and same thing only runs at full throttle, unhooked throttle cable to see if it was the issue but if I try to idle it down it dies. I see no adjustment, am I missing something or getting defective carbs? Are there better carbs available?

This is OEM carburetor above.
The carburetors sold on Amazon at very low prices are from china, etc.

Look for an air leak. Carb insulator, gasket, anything between block and carb is suspect.
