Howdy folks

I have a craftsman eager-1. Turns over couple times, then dies. My understanding is that the problem is the carb, however I cannot locate anything like a service manual. I have enough mechanical aptitude/training to swap out and/or possibly repair the carb, but where can I get the manuazl? Barring that, would you folks be willing to walk me through the project? I can take pictures and upload.

Many thanks in advance

I've got an old Eager pushmower. First thing I'd do is drain the gas out of the tank, take the carburetor bowl off and let the old gas drain out. Catch it in a small container so you can see what was in there. Probably some water and dirt. I've even seen green algae in some of them. Others some brown goop from outer space! At any rate, get some carb cleaner and give the float, and all a good cleaning. Then put the bowl back on and see if it'll run. Sure, we'll try and walk you through it. DaveTN

I don't need pics. Trace down the fuel line from the tank to where it enters the carburetor. There's a clip holding the line on. Take pliers and slide it back towards the tank. When you pull this line off with pliers, fuel will come gushing out. Get something to catch it in. I use an old gallon milk carton cut off about 2 inches from the bottom. Then there's a bolt on the bottom of the carburetor that holds the bowl on. I think it's 1/2". use a box end to remove it. Should loosen pulling from your right side near the engine towards you. When you loosen this bolt, gas will come out, so have a small container, say 1/3 of a clear coke bottle or similar to catch the old gas. Just want to see what the gas looks like out of the carburetor. Let it all drain out of the bowl before you tap on it gently to remove the bowl.
