craftsman 917.377131 height adjustment

I'm getting it wrong I guess.If I lets say,on the right front wheel push the heigt adjusment lever to my right,going away from the mower,it lowers the deck,resulting in a higher cut? Naturally doing the same on the other side and opposite direction for the back?

Lower the deck the shorter the cut. Raise the deck and higher the cut.
