Craftsman 30in. 420cc 6speed seat safety switch

Every forum thread I've read and the manual for this unit says you can get off the tractor without killing the engine by:

1. set parking brake on (depress)
2. set PTO (Power Takeoff Switch) off

DOESN'T WORK!

Anybody got any ideas? It is a pain to have to restart every time.

Brake safety switch needs cleaning or adjusting or replacing. Some units must also be in neutral.
