I purchased my craftsman 675 series 3 years ago. I change the oil every year and maintain it but this year the lawn mower was putting out white smoke out of the muffler and oil was coming out of the muffler. I have not turned it on its side or anything like that and have not changed the air filter in it yet. could that be the problem

WELCOME to these Forums....

You are going to be changing oil again soon...
Sounds as if the needle valve at the float has failed to stop the fuel flowing when the carb bowl got full... that excess gasoline has made it into the crankcase and now the fuel diluted oil is over full and showing you these symptoms...
Many have had this particular problem... you will need to check the float & see that it is still in good order, passably replace the needle & seat... Many have placed an in Line fuel shut off to keep this from reoccurring.
But you will want to drain the oil and replace it after you have corrected the problem. :smile:KennyV
