Craftman mower with B$S engine won't start

I have a Craftsman lawn tractor with the Briggs and Stratton 19 hp engine model number 42A707-1625-01. The engine will turn over (power to the starter, starter engages and turns flywheel) but the engine won't start. I have replaced several parts in the fall. The solenoid (it started a few times, then failed to start) and the "coil" (I guess) and spark plug wiring harness (this was one piece) and it did the same thing. Ran a few times, then failed to start. I have just rebuilt the carb. The engine will turn over, but won't start. I don't think I'm getting spark at the plugs (I pulled one, connected it to the lead and grounded it on the block; no spark). It smells like I'm getting fuel in the cylinders when the engine turns over. Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Chris

You need to clean the flywheel magnet and the new coil where they contact and create spark, not sure but some of those models have diodes that can go bad as well

Thank you very much. I'll give that a try.

two things to do when testing for spark. Test for spark with the spark plug in the engine with a spark tester. This tells you if your spark plug is bad or not. Always isolate the engine and chassis this tells you if you have any bad switches or shorts in the chassis wireing. Now go from there.

What is isolate the engine and chassis? How do I do this?
