COOL OLD UNDER-SEAT ENGINE RIDER!

Just went to the Chautauqua County Antique Equipment Association Equipment show today. WOW!

In the 'silent auction' area, there was this incredibly COOL old Craftsman 22" (I'm guessing) under-seat engined rider.

Features include:

  • 'wind-up' starter
  • aluminum deck
  • solid rubber tires
  • full fiberglass body

Any best guess as to the vintage of that fine example of engineering? Late 1930s, maybe?

Bought one back in the 60's new from sears, As I remember I ran it till I couldn't find wheels and tires for it any more. It's been a long time ago but as I recall it had smooth tires and a straight drive axle and when you went around a corner one tire dragged and the tires would wear out and split. Also the one I had was a gold color and no fiber glass body on it. I think it was just a cheaper version of what you have. As I recall it did a good job of mowing and I had it up into the early 80's. It looks like you had better watch out for your nosey neighbors before you get too many mowers again. You know how they want their nose in your business for your own good.
