We need to replace our mower. Lot is 3 acres, cross fenced, and a number of trees. Looking at the current Husqy line and _maybe_ get a TS 248XD, maybe. But I'm puzzled by the specs for a 248 vs a 348. The 348 has 1 hp more and larger tires, and a K66ELD vs K46LD (248) tranny - this makes the 348 $700.00 more than the 248? Comments? Explanation?

have you looked at something comparable in the JD line, one-n-done, and you'll have a better machine all around - jmo.....

What Abe said. Take a look at the JD 300 line.

One nearby JD dealer got a really bad review in Google maps.

The 348 will last much longer, because the transmission is stronger and easily serviceable. The K46 I've seen go bad on mowers only 3 years old. I really want to get a donor K66ELD for my riding mower because my k46 is blown.

The K46 is an -entry level- transmission. For 3 acres, that's not what you want.

What Abe said. Take a look at the JD 300 line.
I was never a big fan early on due to what I felt was their over inflated prices, then I had a chance to buy a used JD 345 for a steal. Wow, what a machine that was, until it got destroyed in a fire - waaaa! So, then I moved up to an X585, awesome unit. Then another deal came along for my current X700, with 54" deck, 47" blower, and more importantly a full Curtiss cab with "heater", I also have a Johhny bucket for moving 10-15 yards of mulch each year. But the best thing is that prices seem to have become a bit more in line, i.e. reasonable for the product. Again - jmo.....

Dealers are one matter, the JD product is quite another ...

no idea how the market is in your area; but, maybe check out FB Marketplace for a decent used rig.... I just picked up a mint '07 X700 with under 500 hours, 54" deck, 47" blower, full metal Curtiss cab with heat - $8K . . . . .
