A leading consumer publication has just released their walk-behind mowers report, and Honda snagged 6 out of the top 7 slots. #7 was also rated a best buy.

#1. HRX2175VYA (link)
#2. HRX2175VKA (link)
#3. HRX217VKA (link)
#4. HRR216VLA (link)
#6. HRR216VYA (link)
#7. HRR216VKA (link)

So you sharp-eye readers might ask, "What's the diff between #2 and #3?" Let me tell ya:

#2 is the newest version of the HRX217VKA, which has the Select Drive self-propel design.
Move the lever to change speed, use the round knob to set the maximum speed:

#3 is the an earlier version (limited stock available) that uses the Smart Drive design.
Press/release the control to change speed:

Sorry to hear that Robert. Maybe next year will be a sweep

Nice accomplishment! I am curious who number 5 was though, LOL!

I like the HYA vs the VKA. The two lever - hydrostatic system is what I'm accustomed to. After 20 years, the technology still just works and works great.

I love my smart drive, but I don't operate with my thumbs as shown in the pic. Rather I use the palm or base of my thumbs resting on the paddles for control. Very ergonomically friendly, with an almost effortless management of speed control without removing my hands from the handle.

As far as dependability goes, so far so good, with zero adjustments needed so far. This will be my second full season with the machine.

I must say, the new select drive looks pretty neat!
