confused series 300 not starting

have b&s 300 series. would not start. would run on ether only.cleaned out fuel tank and carb. started after using ether. turned off because forgot to tighten bolts on cover. will not start, not even with ether. here popping noise. spark plug good and sparking. any suggestions. fixing to use BFH to adjust it.

Could you post the model type and code off of the blower housing of the engine so we can see what your engine looks like.

Take a deep breath & post all engine numbers, everything from engine data plate as ILENGINE asked, possibly something simple like adjusting valves, thanks,

Take the mounting nut / bolt off the top of the crank and have a look at the flywheel key.
If both 1/2's make a square hole it is fine but if it is not dead square then the key is broken & the motor is out of time
