I have a Scotts swivel wheel mower with a Tecumseh engine that will start and run for about 5 seconds and stop ,, I can cover the top of the carb with my hand after it starts and keep it running for a little while .
I put a carb kit in it and I have checked and rechecked the needle & seat but it does the same thing.
Any ideas would be appreciated, Thanks, RickM :confused2::confused2::confused2:

Are you getting a good fuel flow to the carburetor? Clogged fuel filter , gas tank, fuel line, etc. ?

Make sure the main carb jet is clean. could be in the bowl nut or in the base of the plastic bowl assy if you have that type of carb.
Carb was cleaned in carb cleaner to remove all varnish and I installed new kit parts and gaskets.
What do you mean about the bowl nut, how could it cause a problem?
