i just got a 1969 comet rer, i love it but it doesn't have any power in reverse. it is a friction disc model, forward is fine, is there any adjustments i could make to fix this? thanks in advance

If I remember correctly the shifter position indicator is fastened on with two bolts, that you can loosen and slide the shifter to make adjustments. Have seen a few get out of position due to people snagging it on stuff.

that was it,well kind of. the bolts were slide as far as possible so i bent the handle and ground the end of the shifter channel a bit. after 43 years it needed a little surgery. now it works great here is a pic of the machine, i call it the penguin, because i can't help but smile when i see a penguin, and i can't help but smile when i see this!

Hi tweedlecat

Did that comet come with a blade on it or was that some thing someone made and put on this comet? If that is purchase piece of equipment that is really kool and worth some thing i would think :licking:

i have 2 of the comets. 1 is missing the deck, and was wondering what i could do with it. after seeing the blade mounted under there, it will be a project for me later for that one

i really enjoyed making this, it works well. i will post some better pictures so you can get an idea. all told i got plow free in a package deal and the snapper too. so i'm in to it about 5 bucks for the square steel tubing....

I have an old 28" which I have removed the deck from. I found a good engine and my plan is to dedicate the deckless RER as a kind of yard truck to pull an old 8' long lightweight trailer around the yard to haul whatever needs hauling. A good name for it might be "DECKLESS", huh?

That's a neat "toy" you have there. Made us smile.

Thanks for sharing a picture.

Now that we got our first snowfall today, I could have used a machine like that!:thumbsup:
