Since JD left, the FP has grinded to a hault, which is understandable, but we need to get posting again, and most importantly, posting in a friendly and non-offensive manner!

JDGreen was one of our most popular (if not the) members, OK, maybe in some people's eyes for the wrong reasons, but still, he was a prevalant member on LMF, and he is now gone, which is a great shame, but we can't just stop!

So, I can't think of a thread other than this to post, as I've only had half a cup of coffee and it is 6:40AM here in Scotland, but somebody who is more awake than me could possibly post a good thread.

Oh, and the worst bit, is that we won't get to see JD's Dracula pictures from tonight! If you're reading JD, don't fill yourself up with blood, you won't eat your dinner

Quite honestly, JM - it shouldn't HAVE to be up to one member. I was pretty active as a whole on LMF - and it turns out I was pretty popular, too. More than I ever knew. BUT, that shouldn't dissuade another member from posting, even if I chew them to bits. Chew back, then. Or post your own thread. Or whatever.

Point is, if the FP has any interest, there will be posts. If not - well, maybe LMF isn't a hangout for everyone. Or even anyone anymore. For awhile, it was for a few of us. Things change. Like when you break up with a GF, or BFF that you had really great times with. Maybe we who hung out here should all just be thankful for what was, and look foward to that next "magical" place to be for the next while. All things must end - good and bad alike. We can't just hope for one, and hope against the other. Take it in stride, my friend......take it in stride.

The FP being so dead is just an indicator, not the problem. The site itself has changed, IMHO - just let it be what it will be, and realize all the pleading and lecturing and hoping in the world won't change it back. I'm over it, myself. The wolves can have it.

Just like when a romance ends - it can't ever be revived into what it used to be. It's usually a zombie from hell, if it comes back at all. :frown:

Yes, I see what you mean.

Even the technical sections have started to become ghost towns now...

I hope the whole forum isn't coming to an end, but as you say, if it happens, it happens...

Quite honestly, it shouldn't have to be up to one member and remember your popularity as with anyone else can be two fold. Have you ever asked yourself why as at the present time we only have 15 members online and 270 plus other people viewing that are not members and I've seen those figures a lot higher. It's a good question.

Mite you think that maybe people don't particularly like being as you say being chewed to bits by you and your philosophy, if they don't like it then Chew back
 and why would they post there own thread when they know that's what they have to look forward too.

People see statements like that and say I don't think I want any part of this forum.

The point is the FP was designed for people to share there interest outside of Lawnmowers and lawn-care not as a place to have a free for all.

The FP being so dead isn't an indicator of anything and the site itself hasn't changed, just the people on it.

Humm? The "Magical" place you speak of, I wonder who resides there

Take it in stride, my friend......take it in stride.

I just KNEW you would weigh in, Ric buddy.

You're sooo right - and regardless of what you really feel or not, your 'Devil's advocate' position is much better.

Right as usual - you think you are. Always right as rain....... Naw, I think myself you're wrong as hail.

Who would reside in that "magical" place? Not you - and you certainly wouldn't be the admin.

This is an area (FP) I tend to stay clear of... It started okay, then became a spot for fake drama...

As for your opening post about JDgreen being gone Ha ha... I doubt it... :laughing:he has made these same Idle Threats at least 3 times... He will be back to celebrate negativity again... And it will most likely be on this forum (FP) at least I hope he tries to confine it to this area...
For those of you that enjoy that sort of thing, great, have at it... but there are some that will bump around on the other areas....

Okay, being the new guy here, I'm not sure what happened, and I'm not sure I want to. But let me give you my perspective on the FP. First, I belong to way too many forums, about 15. I've been looking for a support group, preferably in the form of a forum:laughing:. I really stick to 3 or 4. One allows no political talk what so ever. It is dedicated to Single Overhead Cam Honda motorcycles from the 70s. Threads even hinting at pollyticks will be deleted. They allowed a special area during the '08 elections, the whole area got locked 3 or 4 times, then deleted 2 days after the election. Another one I belong to allows unbridled political talk. It is The Wooden Boat Forum. Their issue is with language. You can hint at words(think George Carlin's 7 words bit), but if you say it, you are banned for a week, do it again, banned for life. And they're serious. They don't just ban you screen name, they ban your IP address. So you can sneak back in only if you move.

So, I belong to forums of all sizes. Of the two mentioned above, the first one has 11.888 members, the second one 28,347. So you don't have to look, this one has 6406. I found LMF when someone gave me an old Craftsman reel mower. I quickly realized that it would never mow again, so I centered my interest on the motor. I found two other forums that might be of some help. Old Mini Bike, and ASECC(Antique Small Engine Collectors Club). I didn't check OMB, but ASECC has a whopping 188 members. But large or small, every one is a community. They all look out for one another. They all feel it when someone passes. If JD feels this, he'll be back.

Okay, I found out why. In all the forums I belong to, none of them would allow that kind of fighting. Even Wooden Boat. Spirited discussion is one thing, name calling is totally another.
