While mowing yesterday the clutch on my Ferris IS 1500 broke off from the mower. I did find the bolt and noticed that is was sheared off. My question is what would cause this to happen and is there more to this repair than just replacing the clutch. Any input greatly appreciated.
Most likely the bolt came loose, backed out, and was sheared off when the clutch came off. if the clutch isn't damaged, get the broken bolt out, and replace with a new bolt, torque to correct spec, and you should be good to go. Possibly the bolt was over torqued to start with, causing it to break also.
