How do you know if your engine is high enough where they have it set from SCAG ?

I have a 48" walk behind with about 20 hours on it, with a bit of a bagging issue. Mower is practically brand new but Ive been back and forth with WRIGHT about the Grass Gobbler I bought.
Seems like material is building up at the entrance to the bagger and clumping out. The bagger is perfectly lined up.

Anyway, my thoughts are it's not revving high enough when its at full throttle.

Do they sell anything to check engine RPM quickly?
If they do, what should be at ?

Thanks guys
Matt

You use a tachometer to check engine rpm. they range in price from about $30 for a simple tiny-tach, to about 180 for a top of the line digital. Whatever tach you get it needs to be able to read rpm on an engine that fires every revolution. Auto tachs are not set up to read every revolution, so will need a small engine tach.

The engines are rated at 3,600 rpm. All of mine that I have checked run around 3,400 rpm, with the exception of a fixed throttle push mower that runs at 2,700 rpm and a generator that runs at 3,640 rpm.

The speed depends on the specific engine. Kohler could be 3600-3750. Briggs is normally 3600. Some pushmowers can be as low as 2600 depending on blade length.

I would say with any rider engine 3600 would be a safe bet.

Kawasaki rates there horsepower on that engine at 3600, so I would say that is the optimum speed set by Kaw.
