Broke crank. Rest of mower still in good shape. It's a WideBody LT lawn tractor. But, it's not worth a new $450-$500 engine.
So, is there somewhere to buy a cheap rebuild, or short block only ?
Or, I'll sell this whole thing for $100, just to get rid of it. All the tires still hold air. Deck looks good. Worth fixing, for somebody who has an engine.
Pull it apart before you do anything.
If the piston & rod are good then you are just looking at a crank & gasket set, around $ 100
Don;t forget the most important tool in the box, your camera and don't spare the electrons.
Because Briggs has promo pricing on many engines a short block is likely more expensive. If you can't find a suitable used engine scrap it. I work with a local shop, we run into this frequently.
I’m assuming your motor is a flathead. These motors are built very good and normally will last. I would replace the crank if everything else is good like Bert suggested.
