Do you have to take off the deck to replace the deck spring? If so, how is it removed. If not, where does the spring go?

Giving us a part number will help us about as much as my wife putting me on a diet. Ain’t going to happen. You want to try again by painting us a better picture of what you are trying to do. Include things such as units model and serial numbers, telling us which spring you are talking about and why you are making this repair. There are some great techs on this site, but on the weekend we leave our ESP in the shop and enjoy our families.

:welcome:

Firstly there were at least a dozen different deck configurations for Troy Bilt Broncos with 42" decks.
So to give you good information we need good information and in particular the model number from the tag under the seat ( starts with 13 ).

Secondly you can replace most springs without removing the deck . but unless you are a gynocoligist or proctoligist and used to working blind by feel then removing the deck will make the process a lot easier.

Thirdly if you do not know how to fit the spring or where it goes how do you know you need to replace it ?

Fourthly the proceedure for removing , replacing & leveling the deck is in the owners manuals and most owners manuals are available free of charge from the makers web site and Troy Bilt is no exception.

Lastly that is the tension arm return spring and it goes between a hole in the tension arm and a hole in the deck.
Both of these holes flog out very quickly so you are looking for a hole with a wear point in it.
