If its like my champion you just hit the starter button and the choke is automatic but if you use the recoil starter you have to turn on switch and set the choke manually or it will not start.

Pull spark plug, squirt about 2cc of gasoline in the hole, put plug in, apply choke, closed to 1/8th throtte, and pull. Should fire right up. If it does that it's capable of being started by cord. Now you just modify your procedure next time. Don't pull the plug just apply choke, throttle, and pull. But don't leave the choke on for more than two pulls otherwise it may have pulled in two nice slugs of fuel and flood. If it fires at any point it should run. Don't pull more than two times with switch off and choke on. Switch on, choke on, pull no more than twice. Choke off.

It has been proven the magnetic field flux is not affected by rust.

that is generally true; however, the poster says: "It has NEVER started by pulling the rope, not since we bought it.". that said I'd guess (?) there might be a severe rust build up . . . . . easy to check that first then move on to something more severe. jmo

The start key has to be in the on position and it may take several times pulling on the starter rope for it to finally come to life. Being a 9000W unit, it will take quite a bit of effort to get enough starting RPM.

Next option would be to remove the air cleaner and give it a short spray of carb cleaner to prime it and it will start. DO NOT USE STARTING FLUID. Starting fluid is harmful to small engines.
