CH20s quits after a second or two

I have a 25 year old Agco with a 10 year old replacement Kohler engine. Last time I used it I noticed the dash lights flickering but finished mowing with no issues. This time it quit within a half hour. It starts and runs for a second or two and right before it quits the dash gauges go dead then it quits. I have removed all shields and checked for lose connects or frayed wires and nothing. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks, Tim

If your dash lights are going out then you are loosing power so have a bad connection / broken wire some where between the battery and the dash.
Don't overlook the ground connections .
A direct short will also cause a similar problem so check the output wire from the alternator is not shorting somewhere.
And a new fuse never hurt any one.
