Centre blade bolt breaking

I work for a gardening company and I maintain the Bushranger mowers, I have been using Victa centre bolts to hold the blade plate on and the teams I have replace their own blade by removing the centre plate to access the blades, we have been using battery tech screw guns to loosen and tighten the bolts, I have noticed the bolts have been stretched and I have advised them to only tighten them with a maximum of a 1/4 turn, my question is does anyone else have a problem with the centre bolt snapping on their mowers. any advise or experience would be grateful

You need to be using high strength bolts and torque to spec and not just guessing at it. Contact either your dealer or the OEM for the correct torque spec. This what torque wrenches are for.

The bolts can be removed with a battery tech screw gun. However, it's best to install the bolt with a ratchet and socket. The mowers you are describing are small walk behind mowers and the bolts don't require much torque.

It appears the OP is referring to an Australian mower which likely has swing blade setup similar to the US rotary bush hogs so the setup is different than the bar blades that are common on US mowers.

Could be.
The walk behinds do have four sling blades.
Their zero turns appear to be what we Americans consider as residential mowers. Their top offering has a 54" deck and Hydr-Gear ZT-2800.

Thanks for everyone's advice I believe you've solved my problem. The torque spec is 38-50 lbs, I will try with a ratchet socket to test failing that I will organise the 15 gardeners with a torque wrench
Thanks again 👍

You might find you will need more one torque wrench as any repair should involve a torque wrench. I currently have 4 RH and 3 LH torque wrench plus one small screw torque tool. Even with these I have come across some specs that is out of the spec of my largest one [300 ft-lbs max].

I'm hearing you 👍
You have me intrigued small screw torque tool, I've never heard of this, I would really like to acquire one of those.
