Carburetor smoking?

The exhaust is working fine but I've got smoke coming from the carb which I've not seen before. This was working fine last season. It still runs and was able to till the garden but I'd like to make it right. Any ideas?

I've never seen a carburator smoke , I think you're seeing exhaust , nothing comes out of the carb , only air / fuel intake at that point , if it backfires you may see something there but would not be running good if so , this smoke is coming from somewhere else

I’d guess it’s coming from the crankcase? Have you changed the oil recently? When you check it before startup, is it high on the dipstick? I’d venture it’s a leaking carburetor allowing fuel into the crack case. The smoke is the thinned out oil with lots of fuel contamination.

Going with carb flooding.

Pull oil dip stick and smell for gas.

If you smell gas, STOP, don't try to run the engine.

Fix the carb needle/seat first.

Change the oil three times after it is all sorted. Oil is cheap.

Install an inline fuel cut off valve.

I'd look closer to see for sure where it is coming from. More than once I have read or have seen someone with a mouse nest smoking. Another long shot would be a broken crankcase breather dumping oil fumes out. If so then I would be concerned about the quality of the oil.
