Is the carb model number the same as the engine num?

No, the only carb manufactures who supply carb numbers are Walbro and Zama for 2 cycle engines.

So how do I identify what carb I have to get the approriate rebuild kit?

You have to use your engine numbers to get a parts breakdown where you will find the carb number and the rebuild kit number.

There may well be a name or number on the carb.
