Have just acquired a Victa 8/26e, got it running but it only goes backwards. Can't find a manual. How do you get the gearstick to find the forward gears?? Do we have an internal problem?

It is a rebadged MTD from the 90's
I don't have on in the yard at the time but you might like googling MTD 8 / 24 , 8/26 , 8/28 ,10/ 30 ,10 /32 all the same chassis just different sized engines & cutting decks.
E is for electric start as most were pull start only in those days so you can drop the e from the search.
Electric start & a battery added near 40% to the price
There is a bod on OZ evilbay flogging off photocopies for around $ 30. Search "victa Manual"
I came in 2 flavours
1 had a real gearbox, 3 forward & 1 reverse
the other had a vari drive with a speed control lever or pedal & a forward , neutral , reverse in the diff on a separate control
