I can't find the model number anywhere on this mower. Any help please?

And I will admit it is quite dirty....it's cleaner now, although the paint is peeling from the aluminum deck!

What a light weight mower? Can't want to get it started (with gas/oil mix).

That engine is one of the best...period treat it good as for the model numbers looks like an old proline and the alminum deck is actually quite heavy.

Thanks exotion for the quick response! That's good to hear about the engine. I'll need to figure out (at least generally) what year and motor I've got on it, simply so I can read up on this mower and engine.

Oh my....just tonight, I looked under the steel plate that holds the speed and throttle adjustments....to my surprise, I found the model number -- it is a 1992 Toro model # 20321. Now the next challenge is to find a manual for it, so I can get better educated.

I'm glad you were able to find the model number. Mine was gone along with its decal.

That Suzuki engine is a beast. The deck and handle are very well built as well.

There's another thread about these mowers... if you search for Suzuki you'll find it.

Thanks so much Two-Stroke. I've found the model as noted, and the Serial Number for the mower, and the Suzuki Engine number and Carb number. I've taken apart the carb, and have it soaking -- it was in rough shape. I'll put it together this morning, and hope to get it running today.

The deck is rough, and if it runs well, I might repaint it Toro Red and decide if I want to keep it. This is my first 2 stroke, and I got it for only $10, so I'm learning by doing. (Don't worry...I'll use gas/oil mix only!).

Nope. Not melted, just dirty. I have the engine running, and am putting the pieces back together. May put a new blade on it, after I see what the current one looks like. It does run strong, and I anticipate mowing with it this weekend!

Toro Commercial Lawn Mower

The commercial models have the same engine (as far as I know) but just about everything else is even more heavy duty than the homeowner model.

One of those commercial mowers was advertised on the Atlanta CraigsList a couple weeks ago for $700 -- and the ad was gone in three days.

I've got this Toro 20321 running, yet find it difficult to start. Even after priming it for about 10 - 15 pumps, it still takes about 10 pulls to get it to catch. I have the throttle set for choke, and can see the choke plate closed....anyone got any suggestions? Seems like all this pulling put a bunch of pressure on both the recoil, as well as the rope pull!

All I can tell you is that my experience is that the Suzuki engine has been relatively hard to start. I'm a Lawn-Boy hobbyist and those mowers are very easy to start if tuned properly -- that's my frame of reverence. My engine is an earlier version (no primer bulb) and I typically run most of the fuel out of the carb (by shutting off the fuel line) before putting the mower away. That means that a couple of pulls are necessary just to get some fuel into the cylinder.

The engine seems physically harder to turn over compared to any other push mower that I'm aware of. That makes sense given that it's also the most powerful engine I've come across.

The best advise I can give you: pull hard. :cool2:

If it doesn't start in 3 pulls tops, there is something wrong. I have 3 and they all fire first pull. It may be spark related. The coils can be problematic from time to time. If it fires easily with carb clean, check fuel. The Mikuni carbs are finicky. I would first make sure that there are no restrictions in fuel delivery, like a plugged tank or filter. Then clean the carb. If it still doesn't, check spark.

Thanks Podor -- Yep, these are difficult engines to start, even if they have a primer bulb. I'll look into the coil, as it may not be producing adequate spark. I know I''ve got fuel flow, and have rebuilt the carb...
