My grand father died of cancer about 2 weeks ago when he died I was left with a few lawn tractors and a pile of other stuff. I now have to sift through and figure out whats junk and what isn't. There is a jd 265 that was sitting there that he had planned on doing something with. I thought he said the transaxle was messed up so I was thinking of tearing it down and building a pull behind mower for my atv. After looking at it and charging the battery I plopped down in the seat, mashed the brake pedal, choked her and she fired right up and ran like she just came out of the box. It had been sitting outside uncovered for at least 2 years maybe longer. I pumped up the tires and hopped back on her and took off. I drove it all around and it brought back memories of my childhood driving his old 175 around mowing his grass and pulling my cousins and sister in the trailer he made for it. Other than paint and some minor body repair (right side floor board is coming off) it is in pretty good shape. The major problem is the deck is off and the iders and hardware is gone as if he had started to restore it. I have no idea what it looked like put together and I also do not know the year model so I dont know where to start ordering parts or if all of the 265 parts were interchangable. I cant seem to find any pictures of the deck with out the shields in place or of the linkage and how it hooks up. can anyone tell me where I can find pictures and maybe some online literature. Im in the process of finding a manual but I dont know if an operators manual will give my the information Im looking for. Im thinking I will need more of a JD repair manual.

Thanks, Jbo

If you shoot me the serial number I can give you the exact year it was built. That's a good looking machine!
