Can a carburetor not shutting off fuel flow, filling the cylinder with gas, flowing into the oil---- cause a blown head gasket???

Thanks for any replies.

Normally, "No"...but when cranking, it can also cause a bent connecting rod due to hydraulic lock. Basically the fluid gets compressed too fast and can't flow out of the exhaust ports made for gas vapors, not gas liquid! Liquids don't compress very well and acts like hydraulic pressure similar to a jack. Something will give. But just gasoline flowing down into the crankcase and cylinder wouldn't blow the head gasket unless it was cranked over and the engine gets a hydraulic lock up. Hope this helps. Dave
