I have just had this going on with not one but two.

Engine was running on just the left side got tired of playing with it so took the intake and carb and put it in a spare engine and same thing. Problem was the carb. The carb is set up as a 2 in 1 carb. The right side jets were clogged. Cleaned the carb and all is good

You may have blown the head gasket or have a valve that is not opening. I would first pull the valve cover on the cylinder that is not working and see if both valves are operating properly. If they are I would then look at replacing the head gasket.

Thanks guys. I have replaced head gasket and checked compression at 125. Tried best I could at cleaning carb with no improvement. I am looking at replacing carb with new one.

Take the valve covers back off and the plugs out, and rotate the flywheel by hand and watch the rocker arms closely, watch as they go up and down, and watch the actually movement that they make, the amount of travel should be the same for all of them.

Bama, A little more coaching on the valve movement from first hand experience on that engine. The ex guide can push up in the head and gradually load up the cam so it wears away to a circle. When I finally diagnosed mine the valve could only lift about.100" and was not allowing enough intake charge to enter for combustion. I had spark and 150 psi, both cyls. This is all pictured in this forum. IMO heat caused it. Let us know.

Thanks motoman. I will remove both valve covers and check the rocker movement and compare right and left. It may be a few days before it get back to it.
Thanks again you guys.
