I have always almost exclusively used the splitter in warm to hot weather. It is only once in a great while that I have used it, or at least tried to use it, when temps are below 50°. I did use it today, when it was only 45°, but the Sun warmed it up for me, so it started quite easily.If you only need to use the splitter in colder weather a few times a year, keeping a can of starting fluid handy might resolve the issue in the easiest manner I can think of. It is not a very technical solution, but how much effort is it worth to get it to start in the cold so rarely?
