190cc* 22" Front Drive Self-Propelled EZ Lawn Mower 50 States- Craftsman-Lawn & Garden-Lawn Mowers-Self-Propelled Lawn Mowers
This is a very similar mower to the one I have. Mine is a little older, but same model.
I am new to lawnmower mechanics and trying to learn how to fix these things myself. I bought this mower used a month ago and broke the flywheel the first day. With help from you guys on here and some youtube vids I was able to fix that myself for $21 ($20 for flywheel and $1 for flywheel key).
So the mower worked great for two mows, until I accidentally ran it out of gas yesterday evening while mowing. I went to the gas station and filled up the can and came back. I put some new gas in it, and it wouldn't start. I waited an hour and tried again, and same thing. This morning it is still not starting, I was hoping it just got flooded but that's not the case.
I removed spark plug, it looks good, its not wet. I am getting spark because the mower will start up for about a second and then die, like it just can't keep itself going. I read up on google and they say its usually a carburetor issue. However EVERY SINGLE VIDEO anyone has ever posted about this seems to be on older style lawnmowers. My mower does not have a prime, and it is set up differently then all the ones in the videos. I was able to get to the carb by just looking around, I had to remove the filter and its housing to get to it. I clamped the gas line and removed the bowl, and its super clean, looks new. The screw that hold the bowl in has two holes, I read you need to make sure all 4 holes on this screw are clean, but I guess the newer models don't have 4 holes. The two however are clean.
The gas I put in is brand new. I put brand new 30wt oil in it last weekend. I spilled a good amount of the old oil out while replacing the flywheel the other weekend, but I could not find the drain plug to correctly drain all of it out. So I just put the new oil in, there wasn't much on the dipstick and I checked it prior to putting the new oil in. I don't think this is anything to do with the problem of it starting for a second then dying, but I want to provide all the info possible.
I am not sure what else to do at this point. Any help is appreciated.
