I have a welding machine / generator which I can start by spraying starter fluid but it will not remain running. I have cleaned carburetor and done all I can think of. What should I be looking for?

You didn't say what model /HP B&S engine it was, but on any engine w/ a carburetor I'd check on fuel pickup as well as fuel starvation from the tank to the carb. If you're getting fuel to the carburetor I'd remove the bowl and manually check the float by moving it up and down to see if fuel comes out and shuts off. Needle could be sticking shut. Could be sediments or trash in the tank or lines.
