Hi.
I have a 12hp Briggs engine 281707-0173-01 for which I've purchased a B&S Carburetor Overhaul Kit 394698 .

In this kit, there is a very small green plastic gromet, about 5 mm in diameter. Where does it go and which way up?

It's the smallest item, bottom right in the attached photo.

Is there a guide anywhere on how to do the rebuild? It looks straight forward (apart from the small green gromet), just trying to avoid mistakes!

Thanks

that is the float valve seat. It is used in combination with the float needle on the right. Which may or may not be used with your carb,

Basically you need to match up what float valve your carb has and then use that float valve needle. So if you have the larger of the two float needles then the grommet isn't used. Only with the smaller needle valve. And it is presses/inserted into the area where the float needle goes You will have to use a pick or something to remove the old rubber seat and then use a flat punch or something similar to install the new rubber donut seat with the center hole with the bevel edge facing the float needle.
