I have a 3.5hp Briggs on a Snapper. I checked and it was getting no spark. I cleaned the contacts on the magneto and flywheel and still nothing.

How should I check to see if the "Kill Switch" is grounded out? Before I go buying a new magneto.

I don't know where it is.

unplug the little wire going to the coil/magneto, that is the kill wire. Then of course you check for spark correctly....

Re-looking at the date on your engine, your engine came out with points originally. Does it still have them? If it does, just get the newer electronic coil, clip the wire to the points, mount/gap the new coil and go mow.

Correctly, you mean hold plug in hand and pull cord?

I will snap a pic of it with the cover off. and Will check the points when I get a chance.

No!!!!

If you have points, just pop on an electronic coil. You need to pull the flywheel to get to the points, if you just buy the coil, leave the flywheel alone........

Here it is with the flywheel cover off. There's 2 wires off the mag. One goes to ground the other goes under the flywheel. So it still has points? Should I pull the flywheel which is easy for me to do. Or just put a new mag without point in.....anyone know that part number for this engine?
