I have a fly wheel fan with broken fins. I am looking up the correct part number from the parts diagrams and it gives an assembly that includes the fan along with a few other parts I do not need. The P/N is 796201.

I am looking around to see if I can just buy the fan. I see stuff on ebay but it is hard to tell if it may be a good part that fits the engine.

Can anyone provide any insight if that is possible or am I stuck buying the entire assembly. Does the 500 CC Intek use the same flywheel fan as the 500 cc Power Built?

Most parts like your fan on ebay are used & overpriced.

IT would if you would post the model and spec numbers and maybe the datecode. Just make you are looking at the correct part.

But the PN you posted is the fan only.

The document you posted implies that but if you actually buy that part number it comes with 1044, 324, 414, and some washers. I know because I purchased it before. I am saying that P/N is an assembly number, it is not the P/N for the fan. It maybe gthe only way you can purchase it now. Briggs likely had an individual P/N at one time. Or more than one P/N that was superceeded

Star Tech, I'm curious what's your source for that diagram and list?

Here are 2 examples of what I am saying about that P/N. It is not only the fan. Therefore it is an assembly number that includes other parts.

You are now all saying so what. I was trying to keep this short but, Here is some context ...... I have a chance to get some used fans at a very good price but the seller only has a part number for the fan alone. Not the assembly. Hard to judge if it will work for it from the photo. I do not see a superceeds or a cross reference Part nubmers for those that I have found.

for example.........will Part number 794273 work as a fan on the 796201 assembly? It may not be identical but is it compatible. If that P/N does not work which ones will on the 796201 assembly?

My prime application is a 31C707-3346-G6 1104292B

Power Distributors Eparts via the Briggs Power Portal (dealer site).

And not the that fan (794273) will not work as it is for a different smaller flywheel. It is for a 12-15 cu in engine where yours is a 31 cu in engine.

Now with the model, type, and date code this what is shown Briggs Power Portal (dealer site). So you first looking at the wrong part number. According to the date code you would have needed PN 796083 but Briggs has superseded it to 796201 so you will need all the parts in the kit.

Note I use B1 as prefix for my Briggs parts due my distributor use of B1 prefix. Just drop it for the Briggs part number.

The part 796201 is only like $25 at B&S store, Jacks is $27. It comes with a cover screen and what looks like a cap. If someone wants only the fan, send me $60, I'll take the parts out you don't want and send it to you, or you can spend $25 - $27 and throw them out yourself, saving you over $30.
