Hello everyone this is my first post on this site and first lawn tractor, I bought a used lt1000 6spd 15.5 hp. and the clutch is either disengaged or engaged when it releases its at the top and it will lift the front end off the ground. is this something I can adjust or is it just something to get used to? Also it is really loud its a 2007 and the muffler is not rusted any ideas there?

WELCOME to these Forums....
The 'clutch' is actually accomplished by moving an idler pulley, so check that all pivots are working smoothly and pulleys are okay...
The Most likely problem is the drive belt itself, it may be worn or soft allowing it to drop deep into the pulley and grab... That will give an abrupt start... a new belt will slip a little and allow an easier start... :smile:KennyV

Thanks Kenny I will check it out tomorrow I was thinking as it wears it slips but that makes so much sense . Also should i get a belt that is specific to craftsman to ensure it is the correct belt? or can i just go to someplace like napa? I will let you know what i find out!!

Make sure the pulleys are moving freely and not binding.
