i just bought a snapper rer with a 11hp briggs. the seller said it worked fine until it just stopped. he told me that he had been using regular 10-30 oil but switched to synthetic. after using the mower 2 times the engine failed. i would really appreciate some suggestions. i am not quite sure where to start.

Well I would start by making sure it is not just vapor locked. Pull the plug see if it will turn over. It could also be something shorted out the kill switch or bogged the motor down. Give us a little more to go on. For more help.

well the place to start is check the oil and see if theres any in it then see if the engine will turn over by hand if it does then take a compression test or pull the plug and see if the piston is moving if it is then check spark and fuel if the piston is not moving or the engine wont turn by hand then more then likely you will have to remove it and take it apart good luck let us know how it goes

I would guess the key word here is failed. Just what do you mean by failed?
