Have a Bolen's 13AM762f765 38" Lawn Tractor. B&S Engine # 31D707 Type 0232E1. When I turn the key to start it tries to start for a second and then it's as if the starter doesn't engage. Sometimes if I keep trying it will eventually start. If I hook up jumper cables from the car it starts right up. Battery is only a couple years old and I always leave it on a trickle charge. Wondering if it's the starter. Thanks, appreciate any feedback/.

I would start by having the battery load tested at an auto parts store, and also check all your electrical connections between the battery and the starter as well as the ground wire connection to the frame.
