My wife by mistake put kerosene in the mower. I didn't know and topped off the tank with gasoline and started it up. About two minutes later it started spitting white smoke when working through thick grass so, assuming it was bad fuel, I stopped and drained the tank and put fresh gas in. It smoked slightly then stopped smoking. It was good for a few minutes then died with black smoke and a fire burning cheerfully forward of the engine on top of the exhaust. I can't ID the part that burned because it's melted but any help would be very much appreciated.

I'll bet people will want specifics of model and engine Plus pictures in order to help much !
Does it still have compression? If so I would take it apart and rebuild if ness. Maybe if you clean the whole thing out you might get lucky and it will run.
