I just got a slightly used LT 1050. Works fine, except that the blades will occasionally disengage while mowing. Problem with the clutch? If so, is it adjustable?
Not adjustable.... check how hot the coil is next time it stops.... should be around 200 degrees, if it is much hotter the clutch may be slipping.
If it is not too hot, check the wiring and pto switch for a loose corroded connection. :smile:KennyV
Try this. Push your reverse mow key switch to the on position and see if that works all the time. If it does, you have a broken wire and the trany. I will let you know where at, Pm me.
MTD wiring is junk. I've had the disengagement caused by the PTO switch, the ignition switch, the reverse switch and the connection at the PTO clutch. They're all gone now, everything replaced with aftermarket and the whole mower rewired.
I just bought a used cub cadet 42in zero turn and it does the same thing. Mows great then just shuts down. Ive heard about coil getting hot, how do I keep coil cool or can I buy a bigger coil to eliminate this problem?
That sounds like the clutch is slipping, and so gets way too hot. And as the post above indicates that it is not adjustable, that would mean it probably needs to be replaced. My problem is, it sounds like, electrical, as it can be immediately re-engaged.
