as for a design project, i need to learn the average wind speed created by lawnmower blades, seeing as there are many of you out there with a multitude of diffrent lawnmowers, i was hoping some of you could answer this question to the best of you ablilities.

What is the average windspeed created by your lawnmower blades? please list type of lawnmower, and size of blade.

thank you

I don't know the wind speed but I do know the greater the lift of the mower blades the greater the vacuum it will have which creates a higher wind speed at the chute. Faster blade tip speed doesn't necessarily mean faster wind speed. A low lift blade will have a faster blade tip speed because it has less drag than a high lift blade but the wind speed it creates would be less even though it rotates faster.

Hope you got that, not sure if my explanation is clear.

Too many variables under a deck to address blade 'air movement'... Baffles will vary, the movement of air is not the primary design of the blade.... that air movement is more a design of the deck shape and is likely designed for the 'best' discharge...
Is that the position you are wanting an 'air movement' measurement, at the discharge Or are you looking at the Aerodynamics of the blade itself without consideration of the decks influence of the air flow...? :smile:KennyV

I have an Alnor hood which will measure the cfm accurately and can furnish the size of the duct tube.
Will that help you?
