Blade height adjustment

I have a new Craftsman 42" , YT4000. Overall it's a great mower but my only complaint is the blade height adjustment, not fine enough. The new John Deeres can adjust by 1/4" increments. Anybody have any ideas on how to get smaller increments on this model. And don't say buy a JD.:confused2:

Hi my_guy, I was thinking maybe the JD fender mounted height guide would fit the Craftsman fender. Maybe somebody would know. Lets wait and see.

Not sure why a 1/4 inch matters with a riding mower. But you could just adjust tire air pressure.

It really dosen't matter, but it gives you the option of dialing in a tighter cut than 1" increments.

Your height adjustments range from 1.5--4". With 6 positions give you the following settings. 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, and 4 inches. Very few tractors below $2000 can be adjusted to tighter increments than that. Sorry for the bad news, but I don't know of anyway to change the settings as they are present. Was hoping you had a dial in system.

The only way to dial it in any better Is to raise or lower the ride height bolts on each side but that's about it! Gives you about 2" of play up or down.

Thanks guys, I'll consider all you've said. It doesn't look like there's any easy way to achieve this.:frown:
