Does anybody have a quick solution as to why the blade belt falls off the pulley when I disengage the blades?
The mower is a 2011 Cub Cadet LTX1040.

Did you torque them properly and hold the top pulley while you did so?

You have a guide missing or a pulley that is loose / bent / broke.
Do you have the covers over the deck pulleys? They have pins that sit next to the pulley to hold the belt on.
The two idler pulleys have guides that can be moved around the pulley to where you need them to be.

I joined this site for a similar problem. I think I've traced the problem to lack of lube in the blade spindles. I knew I had not been doing the maintenance thing like I should have but did not expected to show up like this.
