I'm planning on buying another push mower in about a month or too. It's just for my back yards where I can't fit gravely 148. I really liked the 30 inch time master. But my dealer said they have alot of problems with them and even the Turfmaster. So if my budget is around $1800 what would yall prefer? I have toro, exmark, and snapper push mower dealers. I can buy a honda at home depot but would prefer a dealer. And I don't have a honda dealer around me.

I would get the commercial Snapper with the Honda GXV160 engine. That is a sweet setup!

Snapper Hi-Vac series with nice B&S engine (ReadyStart technology to quieter operation and increased durability.) for about $600 should be perfect for what you need it for...if you have 1/2 acre or less. No need to spent a lot to get it done right!

Is that mower better for bagging though? I forgot to mention I'll be mulching 90% of the time

a little over $900 from what I have seen. You can get the snappers with the ninja mulching blade and mulching attachments too if you don't want to bag.

Okay thanks. Yeah I have a commercial Snapper with the ninja blade right now. It's just on its last leg lol

The best push mower to buy is one that you do not have to push. I have a Honda HR 214 self-propelled. I have had it 25 years maybe a longer. I put it on choke and it starts first pull every time. I don't believe Honda makes this good of a mower anymore. You probably do need a 30 inch cut. Hopefully whatever you find you can hook up a trolley on the back of it, to step up on and ride. I have seen those on eBay.

Yeah if I had a true walk behind ide put a sulky on the back. But I just want a normal push mower

Yeah that mowers definitely a good possibility. I was looking online and saw the Honda hrx mower. It looks really good but I have no dealers. I could order it from home depot though idk about that. What do yall think?

I say do not buy the honda from home depot. I had never used honda but heard good things about them. Needed one to get in back yards too. I bought the honda and on the 2nd day the self propelled stopped working. Im guessing something came loose on the trailer ride from bumps. I took it back and went to the toro dealer and bought a 22" and have been going strong ever since. If i ever buy another i will opt for the toro with a kawasaki motor.

What toro model did you get? Is the 22 inch a one blade or two blade?

im not sure what the model is without looking but i know it only has one blade. No electric start and no blade clutch. I was shopping price more than anything back then because i was just getting started. The electric start isnt a big deal but next one i buy will for sure have a blade clutch so that you can pick up stuff in the yard etc without restarting.

Yeah I want the blade clutch as well. And I don't want electric start, it's just another thing to break lol

I can't say about others but we have a Time Master 30" that we have used almost a year. We had to replace one bearing on an idler. We do like you said small yards and back yards. If mine died today I would still be interested in replacing it with another one like it.

It varies. We cut more large yards with zero turns, but there is rarely a day that we don't use the 30" some. Many times people have a small back yard that we really need it in. We use it on islands like in parking lots, we use it in back yards that are too small for a zero turn to get in. We use it at times in a cemetery behind the weedeaters to cut areas too tight for the zero turns, we use it on an office lawn that is small... We cut between 65 and 70 properties. They vary in size from 14 acres down to the size of one cemetery plot. Most are 1/2 acre to 2 acres.

One thing that I really like about the Time Master is the small amount of space it takes in the trailer.

We use it to bag sometimes. We mulch with it some times, and we discharge with it some times as well.

Sounds like he or the dealer has something against Toro. The Toro and the Exmark are essentially the same mower. The Toro had some problems early on or when they first came out but they were taken care of. I used my Turf-Master for at least the last three years and never regretted buying or spending the money on it. It has saved me a lot of time. The Kawasaki FJ 180V KAI engine is a dream, it starts on the first pull most every time cold or not and runs like a champ. The drive system it uses is nice because you can set it up for you and your pace easily and I've never had any issues with it climbing slopes. Now I read and here that Oregon is making the Gator Blades for the Turf-Master and the Exmark or at least that is what was said on a couple of other forums.

And you guys never had tranny problems? That's one of my main concerns about the mower

The Turf-Master and Exmark both had there problems when they were first introduced much the same as any mower when they first come out, look at the problems the Raptor had and HUstler just like Toro took care of the issues. Since then I've never had a problem with the Turf-Master tranny in the three plus years I've been using it and the single bail design works great. Most the problems you here about with the Turf-Master are self inflected.

Okay thanks. Price wise is the Turfmaster cheaper then the exmark? Or the same price

There both the same price. You should be able to buy either for like $1699 and of course tax. That's what I gave for mine. IMO the Toro is a nicer mower with the two wheel adjustment rather than three on the exmark and the single bail instead of the dual is easier to use, but it's what ever you like.

Alrite great. Yeah I'd really like the 2 wheel adjustment. So I don't have to walk around the mower to change the height.

The only problem we had drive wise was I had to adjust the cable from the handle one time. I really did not consider that an issue. It works fine.
