Back in my days in the Motor Industry we had a common customer 'complaint'.
People would come in and complain that their engine management light was faulty. When we asked why they thought the light was faulty they would say "Its on!".
When you try to explain to them that it could be a faulty sensor and we need to plug the car in to check the fault they would ask "Can't you just disconnect the light, the car is driving fine. The light must be faulty".
