Belt Life

All depends what the type of use, keeping the deck top and bottom clean, checking all pulleys, etc. Most manufacturers recommend changing every three to five years. At eight years old I would recommend changing yours.

I have a 2018 XT1 (46" deck) with 160 hours on it. It has the original belt. I do what Rivets recommends. The belt is in good shape with no missing "chunks".

Drivebelt or deck belt?

How many hours are on this?

Is it stored inside, covered up, or left out in the weather?

Run it until it breaks or starts chunking out parts but have a new one on standby. Usually idler and tensioner pullies are needed by then as well.
